The Keppel Union School District Counseling Department in collaboration with faculty, staff, and the community is dedicated to supporting ALL students in achieving their full potential. We believe that all students have the right to a quality education and supportive learning environment. By providing tools that foster academic, personal/social, and career growth in our schools, our goal is to reinforce the district’s mission to seek education, strive for excellence, and aspire to greatness.
Getting to Know Our Counselors
Megan Loucks
Megan Loucks earned her Masters in Counseling with a Pupil Personnel Services credential from California State University Northridge in 2020. Her education journey started at the Keppel Union School District, where she attended Antelope Elementary and Almondale Middle School (now Keppel Academy) before moving on to Littlerock High School and California State University Long Beach where she obtained her B.S. in Sociology. Ms. Megan gained counseling experience at various levels and schools throughout the Antelope Valley, Santa Clarita, and Sylmar before making her way back home to Keppel. This is Ms. Megan's fourth year as a counselor at Alpine Elementary.
Emilie Christian
Emilie Christian earned her Masters of Education and Pupil Personnel Services Credential from the School Counseling program at the University of Southern California. After two years as the school counselor at Keppel Academy, she has recently joined the Bobcat family at Alpine for the 24-25 school year. Mrs. Christian uses a strengths-based approach to empower students and strives to make sure that each of them feels seen, valued, and believed in at school. She is also lucky enough to call the local community home, living in Juniper Hills with her husband, dogs, cats, horses, birds, and more.
Melissa O'Dell
Melissa O'Dell earned her Master of Science in Counseling and Guidance and Pupil Personnel Service Credential from California State University of San Bernardino in 2015. In addition, Melissa earned two Bachelor degrees in Psychology and Human Development. Her counseling career began seven and a half years ago where she had various roles in addition to counseling. Melissa is passionate about students education and wellbeing and strives to empower students to think critically, mindfully, and boldly. Mrs. O'Dell is excited to be part of the Keppel Union School District and looks forward in making this school year a valuable and safe experience for students, parents, and staff members.
Issa Makhlouf
Issa Makhlouf, known as Mr. Mak, earned his Master's Degree in School Counseling along with a Pupil Personnel Services credential from California State University Northridge in 2020. His unwavering dedication to helping and supporting students has driven him to pursue a career as a professional School Counselor. Mr. Mak has gained valuable counseling experience from the Los Angeles and Morgan Hill Unified School Districts. With enthusiasm and commitment, Mr. Mak eagerly anticipates the opportunity to share his knowledge and expertise with the students he will be working with. As a School Counselor, his role will encompass advising students on their academic progress, providing career counseling, and addressing their psychosocial and emotional needs. Mr. Mak is genuinely excited to be a part of the Keppel Union School District and is eagerly looking forward to collaborating with your students to help them thrive and succeed.
Ezequiel Dorado
Ezequiel Dorado, known as Mr. Zeke, earned his Master's Degree in Counseling from California State University, Bakersfield. With 8 years of experience in education within the Antelope Valley Union School District and Kern High School District, Mr. Zeke has honed his counseling expertise across various levels in the Kern Districts. He is thrilled to be a part of the Keppel family and looks forward to supporting students in their journey to success.
Mayra Rogers
Mayra Rogers earned her Masters of Education and Pupil Personnel Credential in the School Counseling program at National University. She also earned a bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development from California State University Northridge. Ms. Rogers recently moved from San Fernando Valley, where she gained counseling experience through working with Los Angeles Unified School District and Charter School. She has gained experience at different grade levels ranging from Elementary through Adult School. Ms. Rogers is excited to be part of the Keppel Union School District and is committed to empowering them with the tools and resources they need to succeed.
